I have had the luxury of studying both architecture at home in Glasgow, three-dimensional design abroad, interior design in Edinburgh and finally a master’s in environmental design, under Sir Hugh and Lady Casson at The Royal College of Art in London.
I like to bring to my work interests in theatre, travel and music. I enjoy cooking and entertaining which helps me to understand what makes a home tick. I hope I am never imitative and am enriched by a basket of influences – gleaned by as much travel and culture as I can pack in.
I enjoy the company of new and old friends. The exchange of ideas is to me essential and I hope I sometimes listen as well as expound.
Over the years I have been involved with a variety of charities, organising as well as designing fundraising events.
I have been lucky enough to design in hospitals, schools and many museums as well as restaurants, cruise ships and Knightsbridge boutiques. Nowadays I concentrate on residential work and boutique hotels but have never, ever, been known to turn down a challenge.
We take care in evaluating the clients brief, the route to the finished project. The process is very personal. We help with the process of upscaling and downsizing – each presenting different challenges. Designing takes on the present and future goals of the individual or family.
We guide the clients through different ideas and aesthetics. Sometimes ideas take time to digest – as do new recipes and we take time to work through these ideas. Our designs do not remain fresh for only that day but must delight for years to come. Our projects rarely age.
Founded by graduate of The Royal College of Art, David Bentheim, we undertake projects in the UK and worldwide. We create original and very stylish interiors. Our projects range from high-end residential homes, boutique hotels and much more besides. We have worked in retail as well as museum and gallery projects.
Through years of experience our team of experts guide our projects from complex planning issues through to final realisation. We have worked with the same teams of architects, quantity surveyors and project management for many years as well as furniture makers and suppliers.
Bentheim’s work has been widely published in the UK and abroad.
